Mixing IT Up

It can be a lot of fun mixing different prints and
patterns together in one look. If you haven’t mixed prints very much, we
suggest that you pick one dominant print then add on a more subtle print or
pattern as an accent. For example, we picked an Aztec print shift dress and
added on a cardigan that has a pop of plaid in the collar. Another example is
having a graphic scarf and pairing it with a top that has checker print on the
sleeves. Even if the prints are quite different, staying within the same color
family helps them to complement each other without clashing.

So many scarves are on trend with the mixing print
trend this fall. We love plaid winter scarves that have hounds tooth or herringbone
patterns on the flip side. You can pair this mixed print scarf with a flannel
of like colors, or wear it with a solid color top and add animal print shoes or
color blocked leg warmers with boots.
Other Tips:
- Tie a plaid shirt around the waist of a printed outfit for a funky touch.
- Mixing prints or patterns with different textures; such as cutouts, fur, leather, and chunky knits.
- Try pairing similar prints that have boldly contrasting colors.
- Pick two different prints, like floral, that share a single color. Can tie them together even more with a solid color shoe bag that matches that color.
The possibilities
are endless, it’s fun to try pairing many different prints and see what creations
you come up with.
